Welcome to the GBP Blog

This is the Blog associated with our main website TheGreenBicycleProject.org

The GBP has merged with Damn Good Bikes LLC. Please visit the new blog for more recent updates.

We are the GBP. Our mission is to keep bikes on the road and thus keep cars off. We call this “Bikecycling”; that’s recycling, but for bikes. The concept is simple. Take a bike that’s no longer wanted, broken, or even bound for a landfill and apply a bit of knowhow and a lot of elbow grease and you get a bike that can last someone for years. These bikecycled bikes are sold at a price that covers only our costs in repairing them so as to provide bicycles at the lowest cost possible. All of our bikes are repaired and tuned by a mechanic so that from the moment you pick them up they are ready to hit the road. Take a look below for our current project bikes and completed rides.

Location:
We are located in the US Storage facility at Capital Circle NE and Mahan Rd. While have moved into our new store, we are in the same complex. To get there follow the road through the complex, around the 90 degree bend and make the first left (at the tree). We'll be the first store front on your right. Sound complex? The best way to find us is to follow the bikes!

Buying our bikes:
Please visit our main website at thegreenbicycleproject.org for information about buying our bikes. You may also email us at Thegreenbicycleproject@gmail.com.

New Bikes and The Much Fabled GBP T-Shirt!

NEWS FLASH: New bikes are posted over at the main site. Be excited.
Other news: THE GBP SHIRT IS BEING PRINTED THIS WEEK! It's been a long hard journey (fine a weekend of shopping) but we've finally reached critical mass for a new GBP shirt! WOOT! There are 3 designs available on many different types of shirts. Here are your choices:

This design features an old school bike with all the important bits explained. NB: Frames, Rims, Forks and the like are not important enough to be noted while the mandatory bike pump is.

This picture will be on the front with the caption "Old School" while "The Green Bicycle Project, Tallahassee FL" will adorn the back along the shoulders.

This design is a stylized silhouette of a woman on a bike. We call her Shela. Shela is a strong woman, so strong in fact that she don't need no stinking bike, or a caption for that matter.

Again, the back will say "The Green Bicycle Project, Tallahassee FL" along the shoulders.

This final image is my favorite. It's the American sign language sign for "Bicycle". Below the image will be "Bicycle (n.): a vehicle with two wheels tandem, handlebars for steering, a saddle seat, and pedals by which it is propelled." The back will yet again say "The Green Bicycle Project, Tallahassee FL" along the shoulders.

We have collected several colors, brands, textures, and sizes of shirts which these will be printed on. As we're doing the printing ourselves, we can also print on the item of clothing of your choice. Here's the initial pricing:
Printed Cotton Shirt: $12
Printed Cotton/Polly Shirt: $15
Printed Sweatshirt/Hoodie: $25
For the first run we will be printing primarily on green shirts with a smattering of purple, orange, and gray. We will be using either black or white ink depending on the shirt. There should be some examples available this weekend with a full run being available sometime in July.
