Rain, Sleet, Snow or Shine

Tomorrow's weather looks terrible. T-storms with hail and "damaging winds" is forecast. However, I have several people who I promised to be in the shop for so I'll be there. I will only have the yellow bike outside to mark the shop as the truck will be around the corner under an awning and the other bikes will be inside. If the rain gets too bad, I will also mostly close the door to keep the rain out.

Trades and Donations

Hi Green Bikers,

You may have noticed the slowdown in bikes over the last month. I can say with honesty that it's not my fault. It used to be that I could find lots of bikes just by closing my eyes and pointing (I kid you not). The combination of increased competition and market forces has made it harder and harder to find bikes. This brings me to my point, if you have a bike that doesn't fit your needs, you have a friend who has a bike they don't want, or mom and dad have an old bike that's taking up space, bring it in to the shop. Donated bikes help keep costs down and thus lowers the price we can sell them for.

Also keep in mind that we do trade bikes. So if you're looking to upgrade from that heavy mountain bike to a lighter road bike, bring the old one with you. We can certainly work out a trade for at least part of the price of that "new" bike.

SOLD: Schwinn Le Tour ($100)

BUMP!

This bike is a little older and isn't as polished as some, but it's a very comfortable ride. The handlebars have been replaced with mountain bike bars and the seat is a nice and wide gel seat. This is an origional hybrid. The bike is about a 50cm (although it's hard to measure on a bike like this) and is a 10 speed.

The bike is considered "green" as it is priced at only $100.

The Is have it

With pooling closed and all precincts reporting we know but one thing... we need a recount! I'm just kidding, this is Florida after all. We let the courts decide who/what we vote for.

Anyway, the GBP will be 6 months of free tune ups. However, as with any promotion there are some rules. First, to get 6 months of free tuneups you must purchase your bike from the GBP in MARCH and get a receipt. You must bring your receipt back with your bike for your free tune up. Second, there is a limit of once a month on tuneups (sorry but any bike that needs more than that has other issues). Third, tuneups are defined as a check of break and derailer functionality and the related adjustments. It does not cover parts, repairs (read: instalation of parts or other non-trivial fixes), or replacement of worn or inoperable components. Finally, we must reserve the right to refuse a tune up due to the condition of the bike or other problems. Bikes do not have to be in perfect condition but they must at least be in an operable state for any tuneing to be done.

Sorry about the restrictions. Our crack legal team made us do it. We don't mess with them, they're scary.

SOLD: Schwinn Hybrid/MTB

Meet a different kind of bike. This bike is designed to ride along rough terrain like a mountain bike yet is still light enough to get around town on. It's a 19" women's hybrid/MTB with 26" wheels. The bike has a nice wide seat and comes with a bell.

The bike is considered "green" as it is priced at only $60.

SOLD: Metric CCM Hybrid Bike

Today's bike is a Metric CCM, Men's hybrid bike. It's a 21 speed, 19" bike and comes with the shown shocked comfort seat, cycle computer, and rear rack. If you're in the market for a bike to get around town or campus this is the bike for you.

EDIT: We now have two of these complete!

This bike is a Research Dynamics Coyote Trail 21 men's mountain bike. It's a 19" bike with 26" wheels. If you've never heard of Research Dynamics, they make very good mountain bikes. This particular one was their lower price point bike shop bike.

The bike is considered "green" as it is priced at only $50.
