Welcome to the GBP Blog
This is the Blog associated with our main website TheGreenBicycleProject.org
The GBP has merged with Damn Good Bikes LLC. Please visit the new blog for more recent updates.
We are the GBP. Our mission is to keep bikes on the road and thus keep cars off. We call this “Bikecycling”; that’s recycling, but for bikes. The concept is simple. Take a bike that’s no longer wanted, broken, or even bound for a landfill and apply a bit of knowhow and a lot of elbow grease and you get a bike that can last someone for years. These bikecycled bikes are sold at a price that covers only our costs in repairing them so as to provide bicycles at the lowest cost possible. All of our bikes are repaired and tuned by a mechanic so that from the moment you pick them up they are ready to hit the road. Take a look below for our current project bikes and completed rides.
Location:
We are located in the US Storage facility at Capital Circle NE and Mahan Rd. While have moved into our new store, we are in the same complex. To get there follow the road through the complex, around the 90 degree bend and make the first left (at the tree). We'll be the first store front on your right. Sound complex? The best way to find us is to follow the bikes!
Buying our bikes:

SOLD: Woman's Magna Outreach MTB
The bike is a red/purple woman's Magna Outreach mountain bike. It's a hard frame mountain bike with grip shifters. It's a 17" frame bike with 24" wheels and is a 15 speed. That pegs the ideal rider as being between 5'0" and 5'6".
I've checked this bike and found it in very good condition. The chain has been replaced drive train has been cleaned and lubed. Brakes work very well as do the shifters.
This bike is classified as a "Green" bike and is priced accordingly at $40. As this is the last November bike I am applying the 25% discount making the price $30!

This month's Linup Includes:
Green Giant Fixed Frame MTB
GT Comfort Bike
Trek 800 Fixed Frame MTB
Peugeot Touring Bke (Yes, it's a road bike!)
A painted roadbike
...and more
As always I'm looking for bikes to repair for January and beyond. If you have something let me know by email. Again the address is TheGreenBicycleProject@gmail.com.

SOLD: Schwinn Caliente Woman's "Mini" Bike
This bike was posted and "sold" a little while ago and the person who wanted it changed their mind.
The bike is a navy blue woman's Schwinn Caliente "mini" cruiser bike. It's a light weight road bike frame with the swept back handlebars for comfort. It's a 15" frame bike with 24" wheels and is a 10 speed. That pegs the ideal rider as being between 4'6" and 5'6". However, I've ridden it and must say that at 5'9" it's a little bit small but very fun to ride.
I've checked this bike and found it in very good condition. Tires and tubes have been replaced and the drive train has been cleaned and lubed. Brakes work very well as do the shifters.
This bike is classified as a "Green" bike and is priced accordingly at $65. That's a 15% discount!
*I should note that this bike was donated by a gentleman who had had it stashed under his house for quite some time. When he heard about the project he insisted we fix it up and get it back on the road.

Chains, Tires, and Tubes/Road Bikes
For some reason I've been having trouble getting chains, tires, and tubes from my supplier as of late. While this is likely just a hiccup in supply, there is a chance I might have to go looking elsewhere for parts. As such, once the current crop of bikes is cleared out the next set might be delayed.
Also, I've had several requests for road bikes lately. I don't really get much in that type, at least not green bikes anyway. If you're looking for bikes of that type, my friend Dan specializes in them. He can be contacted at visibleorange@gmail.com .
